What I did this summmer…. I learned how to blog! (I think)
One of my goals this summer was to explore the way to use technology to increase communication between school and home. I enjoy my weekly newsletters but find that too often it is one way communication from school to home. I’m hoping that the blog will open the lines of communication between home and school and include parents, students and members of the community. I am going to explore the use of blogging to see how effective it can be to accomplish this goal. I’m not sure how much time will be required of me to manage the blog on a daily/weekly basis. I will evaluate the use of the blog on a monthly basis and see if it works. Bear with me.

I must first say that I have been very impressed with the Fairport School District since my family and I moved here two years ago. I immediately felt an overall “I care” community feeling…and I love that. I have witnessed this several times between the faculty, parents, and the students.
Being a parent and an educator, I realize the importance of having a connection between the faculty, parents, and the students. Knowing the importance of having great teachers, I want to thank those that have made my daughter’s experience such a positive one.
I also want to thank you Dave for being so instrumental in helping to create such a positive learning environment for my daughter. It is truly appreciated!
PS…Go Bills!

Jen,
Thanks for the positive comments. I am a firm believer of keeping the lines of communication open between parents and staff. I’m hoping that Leah is telling you about how positive things are at school. We had a great Pep Rally this past Friday. The kid were awesome. The kids enjoyed the whole Spirit Week. I”m sure she is getting excited about this week’s tournament in Albany. Go Jr. Red Raiders!
